New Account Transition Packet
Switching is easy, but don't feel that you have to go through this process alone.
We would be happy to help you with the transition!
Call us or stop in. We look forward to getting to know you!
Step 1: Open your new Bruning State Bank account.
Stop in to any of our bank locations to open a new account. We offer many types of accounts and would be glad to help you decide which account best fits your needs.
To get a head start, you can fill out the New Account Application and bring it with you. We will prepare the rest of the documents for you to sign, and your new account will be open and ready to use!
Step 2: Transfer your automatic transactions and bill payments to your new Bruning State Bank account.
Use your online banking access or your most recent bank statement from your old account to identify the automatic transactions you want to change over to your new account.
Once you have identified the transactions that you'll be switching to your new account, submit the following forms to your employer and to the companies/organizations that are currently authorized to make deposits and deductions to your account.
Use this form to help you set up your online bill payments and vendors.
Step 3: Close your old account.
Confirm that all of your outstanding items have cleared your old account. Note that this may take a few statement cycles. Follow up to make sure all of your automatic deposits, deductions, and online bill payments are coming from your new account.
After all existing activity has cleared your old account, write a check for the remaining balance and deposit it into your new Bruning State Bank account. You can also wire transfer the remaining balance (fee will apply).
Notify your old bank in person, in writing, or by phone that you are closing your account. Don't forget to destroy your old checks and old ATM/debit cards.
Note: These documents are in .pdf format which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. You can download your free version here.
