Current Mission Statement

The primary mission of Bruning State Bank of Bruning Bancshares, Inc., is to assist clients to:

Build and Maintain Wealth

How We've Evolved

The pioneer spirit and the determination to survive still lives in our local communities just as it did for many of our descendants who settled here.  Their roots, like the Bruning State Bank, are here to stay.  Survival depends on adjusting to change.

Just as the times have changed, so have we as a bank.  Growing in customer base, assets, staff numbers, and surroundings.  Services have grown beyond any imagination our founders could have entertained.  Who among them could have envisioned such bank services as IRA’s, farm management, farm accounting, separate departments for Trusts, Investments, and Insurance as well as straight savings and checking accounts and plastic debit cards?  Even traveler’s checks were far in the future.  Who could have predicted we would ever need a drive-in teller window?

In our archives are ledgers showing hand-written entries by Frank D. Bruning.  We’ve gone from those ledgers to posting machines to computers, from adding machines to calculators, from typewriters to word processors.  Our staff has grown from three to thirty nine.  These innovations have been in response to the basic reason for our being, to serve the challenging needs of our customers.

A brief survey of our history would indicate that in our structure there has been continuity, which fosters stability, which in turn enables progress.  As we approach this landmark event, it is more than a remembrance of times past.  It is a time of renewal.  We renew our commitment to focus on quality financial services for agriculture, business and individual residents of our trade area.  As “Your Country Bank”, we pledge to do our best to maintain the confidence of our customers and to deserve their loyalty.  It is our intent to continue our journey into our second century with a progressive attitude and a friendly face.
